Help to Buy Scheme

Help to Buy Scheme Mortgage

First Time Buyers with a small deposit in Staffordshire, could be eligible to use the Help to buy scheme.

The government-backed Help-to-Buy scheme are designed to help first time buyers and those looking to move up the property ladder buy new-build homes. The aim of the scheme is to help first time buyers into home ownership who are unable to access affordable LTV mortgages due to having insufficient deposit.

The purchase price must be no more than £600,000. Under this scheme, you can borrow 20% of the purchase price interest-free for the first five years as long as you have at least a 5% deposit. After the initial five year period, you will start paying interest on the capital that you haven’t repaid.

The Help to Buy equity loan scheme will be extended until 2023. However, this extension will be restricted to first time buyers purchasing newly built homes.

To apply, you must be:

  • aged 18 or older
  • a first time buyer

There’s also a ‘maximum property purchase price’ limit for the home you buy depending on which region it’s in. You can buy a home up to and including the maximum property purchase price limit.

Region Maximum property purchase price
East Midlands £261,900
West Midlands £255,600
